Amorphous polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000505
A polymer that lacks the ordered, repeating structure of a crystalline solid. Its molecular chains are arranged in a random, entangled fashion, resembling the structure of a liquid that has been cooled without crystallization. Unlike semi-crystalline polymers, which contain both ordered and disordered regions, amorphous polymers are entirely disordered and are characterized by a glass transition temperature (Tg), above which they exhibit rubbery or liquid-like behavior.
