Fringed-micelle model
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004678
A historical model for the morphology of semicrystalline polymers, proposing that crystalline regions (micelles) are interspersed with amorphous regions, and individual polymer chains pass through multiple crystalline and amorphous domains. This model suggests that a single polymer chain can contribute to both ordered and disordered structures. It has largely been superseded by the folded-chain lamellar model.
