Stability ratio

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011262

A quantitative measure of the stability of a colloidal dispersion against aggregation, particularly in the context of polymer dispersions. It is defined as the ratio of the rate constant for rapid coagulation to the observed rate constant for slow coagulation. This ratio provides insight into the effectiveness of stabilizing mechanisms, such as electrostatic repulsion or steric hindrance, in preventing particle aggregation.
