Coagulation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004462
The process by which small aerosol particles or cloud droplets collide and stick together, forming larger particles. This growth mechanism is driven by random Brownian motion for very small particles or by differential settling and turbulence for larger ones. Coagulation is a key process in the evolution of atmospheric aerosols and the initial stages of cloud droplet growth.
