Brownian motion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004052
The random, erratic movement of microscopic particles suspended in a fluid, resulting from their collision with the fast-moving atoms or molecules in the fluid. This motion is a direct consequence of the kinetic energy of the fluid molecules. In the atmosphere, it influences the behavior of aerosols and cloud droplets, particularly for very small particles.
