Brownian motion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001517
The random, erratic movement of microscopic particles suspended in a fluid (liquid or gas), resulting from their collision with the fast-moving atoms or molecules in the fluid. This phenomenon provides direct evidence for the existence of atoms and molecules and their continuous thermal motion. The intensity of Brownian motion increases with temperature and decreases with particle size.
