Advection
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000297
The horizontal transport of a property, such as heat, moisture, or pollutants, within a fluid (like air or water) due to the bulk motion of the fluid itself. In atmospheric chemistry, advection describes the movement of air masses and the substances they contain across geographical regions. This process is distinct from diffusion, which involves random molecular motion.
