Orthokinetic aggregation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008341

The process of particle aggregation in a colloidal system driven by shear forces or fluid flow, where particles collide due to their different velocities in the flowing medium. This mechanism contrasts with perikinetic aggregation, which is driven by Brownian motion. The rate of orthokinetic aggregation depends on the shear rate and particle concentration.
