Surface shear viscosity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011665
A measure of the resistance of a fluid interface to tangential deformation or flow. It quantifies the energy dissipation when a surface is subjected to shear stress. This property is distinct from bulk shear viscosity and is particularly relevant for monolayers and thin films at fluid interfaces.
