Differential viscosity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003179

The ratio of the differential shear stress to the differential shear rate for a non-Newtonian fluid. It represents the instantaneous resistance to flow at a specific shear rate, rather than an average over a range. This quantity is particularly relevant for fluids whose viscosity changes with the applied shear rate, such as polymer solutions or suspensions, and is often determined from the slope of a flow curve.
