Viscosity function

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012593

A mathematical relationship that describes how the viscosity of a polymer solution or melt changes with the shear rate or shear stress. For non-Newtonian fluids, such as most polymer systems, the viscosity is not constant but depends on the flow conditions. This function is often plotted as viscosity versus shear rate, showing shear-thinning or shear-thickening behavior characteristic of the specific polymer and solvent system.
