Viscosity-average molar mass

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012594

A type of average molar mass for a polymer sample, determined from intrinsic viscosity measurements. It is calculated using the Mark-Houwink equation, which relates intrinsic viscosity to molar mass. This average typically falls between the number-average and weight-average molar masses, providing insight into polymer chain dimensions in solution.
