Molar-mass average

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007474

A statistical average of the molar masses within a polymer sample, reflecting the distribution of different chain lengths. Different types of molar-mass averages exist, such as number-average, weight-average, and z-average, each sensitive to different parts of the distribution. The specific average used depends on the experimental method employed for its determination.
