Degree of polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002951
A value representing the total count of monomeric units that constitute a single polymer molecule or a specific segment of a block or graft copolymer. For synthetic polymers, which consist of a mixture of chains with different lengths, this quantity is expressed as an average, such as the number-average or weight-average degree of polymerization. It is calculated by dividing the molar mass of the polymer by the molar mass of the repeating monomer unit.
