Chain

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001829

The entire sequence of atoms or constitutional units that are connected to form a macromolecule, oligomer molecule, or block. This structure constitutes the main path or backbone of the polymer. The atoms along the chain are called main-chain atoms, and the number of these atoms defines the chain length, which is distinct from the degree of polymerization.
