Mass-average molar mass
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007004
A type of average molar mass for a polymer sample, calculated by summing the product of the molar mass of each polymer species and its mass fraction, then dividing by the total mass fraction. It is more sensitive to higher molar mass species in a polydisperse sample. This average is often determined by light scattering techniques.
