Mass-average particle diameter

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007005

A statistical measure of particle size in a dispersed system, calculated by considering the mass contribution of each particle size fraction. It is obtained by summing the product of the mass fraction of particles within a given size range and the mean diameter of that range. This average is sensitive to larger particles in the distribution.
