Mean linear range

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007075

The average distance traveled by a charged particle in a medium before it loses all its kinetic energy. This range is an average value because individual particles exhibit straggling due to statistical fluctuations in energy loss. It is a characteristic property for a given particle type and energy in a specific material.
