z-average particle diameter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012792
A mean particle diameter weighted heavily toward large particles, defined as the sum of N times d to the fifth power divided by the sum of N times d to the fourth power, which is the ratio of the fifth to the fourth moment of the diameter distribution. Because of that weighting it is sensitive to aggregates. It is meaningful only when all particles have equal density and refractive index.
