Particle charge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007811
The net electrical charge carried by an aerosol particle or cloud droplet in the atmosphere. This charge is acquired through processes such as ion attachment, friction during collisions, or the shattering of larger water drops. The electrical properties of atmospheric particles influence their interaction with electric fields, their coagulation rates, and their removal from the atmosphere, affecting cloud microphysics and air quality.
