Electric charge
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005302
A fundamental physical property of matter that dictates its interaction with electromagnetic fields. An object with a net electric charge will experience a force when in the presence of an electric field and will create its own magnetic field if it is in motion. The elementary unit of charge is the charge of a single proton (positive) or electron (negative), approximately 1.602 × 10⁻¹⁹ coulombs.
