Electric field strength

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005307

The force exerted per unit positive charge at a given point in an electric field, measured in volts per meter (V/m). In the atmosphere, it describes the intensity of the electrical field, which is particularly relevant during thunderstorms and fair-weather conditions. High electric field strengths can lead to lightning discharges.
