Electric field intensity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005306

A vector quantity that describes the strength and direction of an electric field at a given point in space. It is defined as the electric force per unit positive test charge placed at that point. In atmospheric electricity, it is measured in volts per meter and indicates the potential for charge movement or breakdown in the air, particularly within and around thunderstorms.
