Electric potential
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005309
The amount of work energy needed to move a unit of positive electric charge from a designated reference point to a specific point within an electric field. This scalar quantity, also known as voltage, describes the potential energy per unit charge at a location. The difference in electric potential between two points, measured in volts, drives the flow of electric current.
