Potential
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008076
A scalar quantity representing the amount of work required to move a unit mass or charge from a reference point to a specific location within a force field. In meteorology, it often relates to gravitational potential energy or electrical potential. Geopotential, for instance, is a measure of potential energy per unit mass at a given height in the atmosphere.
