Antiproton

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003570

An elementary particle with the same mass as a proton but with a negative electric charge, constituting the antimatter counterpart to the proton. In atmospheric science, antiprotons are studied as a component of primary cosmic rays that enter the upper atmosphere from space. Their interaction with atmospheric nuclei produces showers of secondary particles that can be detected at the surface.
