Proton-proton chain
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010691
A set of nuclear fusion reactions by which stars like the Sun convert hydrogen into helium, releasing a tremendous amount of energy. This process is the primary source of the Sun's energy, which drives Earth's climate and weather systems. The reaction sequence begins with two protons fusing and ultimately produces one helium-4 nucleus, two positrons, two neutrinos, and energy in the form of gamma rays.
