Positron
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008072
The antiparticle of the electron, possessing the same mass but an opposite positive electrical charge. In atmospheric science, positrons are produced during high-energy cosmic ray interactions with the atmosphere, leading to the formation of secondary particles. Their annihilation with electrons produces gamma rays, which can be detected and studied.
