Positron
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009295
The antiparticle of the electron, possessing the same mass but an opposite positive electric charge. It is emitted during certain types of radioactive decay, specifically beta-plus decay. When a positron encounters an electron, both particles annihilate, converting their mass into energy in the form of gamma rays.
