Positron lifetime spectrometry

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009298

A technique that measures the time interval between the birth of a positron and its annihilation with an electron in a material. The lifetime of the positron is sensitive to the electron density in its local environment, providing information about defects, free volumes, and phase transitions in solids and liquids. Lifetimes are typically in the picosecond to nanosecond range.
