Cascade shower
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004189
A phenomenon in the upper atmosphere where a high-energy cosmic ray particle interacts with atmospheric nuclei, producing a shower of secondary particles. These secondary particles, primarily electrons, positrons, and photons, then generate further particles through successive interactions. This process contributes to the background radiation levels at high altitudes.
