Cosmic radiation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004723
High-energy radiation originating from outside the Earth's atmosphere, primarily from galactic and solar sources. These particles, mostly protons and atomic nuclei, interact with the Earth's atmosphere, producing secondary particles that can reach the surface. Cosmic radiation contributes to atmospheric ionization and can affect electronic systems and human health at high altitudes.
