Dust electrification
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005189
The process by which dust particles acquire an electric charge through triboelectric effects, where friction between particles or between particles and the air causes a transfer of electrons. This phenomenon is particularly pronounced in dust storms, leading to strong electric fields that can generate lightning. The charge separation can influence particle aggregation and deposition.
