Coacervative extraction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002149
A liquid-liquid extraction in which a water-immiscible, surfactant-rich phase called a coacervate separates from a colloidal surfactant solution, for example on adding a dehydrating agent such as an alcohol or salt or by changing temperature or pH. Analytes partition into this small-volume phase, which concentrates them before measurement. Cloud point extraction is the special case in which the phase forms above the surfactant cloud point temperature.
