Cloud point extraction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002139

A separation technique that concentrates analytes from an aqueous solution into a small volume of a surfactant-rich phase. This phase forms spontaneously above the cloud point temperature of the surfactant, leading to phase separation. The method is often applied for the preconcentration of trace metals and organic compounds prior to instrumental analysis.
