Photochemical equivalence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008818
The principle stating that each molecule undergoing a photochemical reaction absorbs one photon of light. This concept, also known as the Stark-Einstein law, applies to the primary photochemical act, where the initial absorption event leads to excitation. Deviations from this 1:1 ratio occur due to subsequent secondary reactions or energy transfer processes.
