Two-photon process
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012383
A photochemical or photophysical event that involves the simultaneous absorption of two photons by a molecule. This non-linear optical phenomenon requires high light intensities, often provided by pulsed lasers, and results in an excited state whose energy corresponds to the sum of the energies of the two absorbed photons. Examples include two-photon excitation and two-photon induced polymerization.
