Quantum yield

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009765

The number of times a specific photochemical or photophysical event occurs per photon absorbed by a system. It is a measure of the efficiency of a light-induced process. For example, the quantum yield of fluorescence indicates the fraction of absorbed photons that result in fluorescence emission, ranging from 0 to 1.
