TDP-43 transcription factor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011838

A nuclear protein that binds to DNA and RNA, involved in gene transcription, messenger RNA splicing, and microRNA processing. It is normally found in the nucleus but can mislocalize to the cytoplasm in certain neurodegenerative diseases. Aggregates of this protein are a hallmark of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal dementia.
