Misfolded protein
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007413
A protein that has failed to achieve its correct three-dimensional structure, or has adopted an aberrant conformation. Such proteins often lose their biological function and can aggregate, forming insoluble deposits within cells or tissues. These aggregates are implicated in the pathogenesis of several neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
