Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000531
A progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness, atrophy, and eventual paralysis. This condition impairs the ability to initiate and control voluntary movement, including speech, swallowing, and breathing. The disease is characterized by the degeneration of both upper and lower motor neurons.
