Fasciculation

A small, involuntary muscle twitch visible under the skin, resulting from the spontaneous discharge of a motor unit. These contractions are typically benign but can indicate nerve damage or disease. They are distinct from fibrillation, which involves individual muscle fiber contractions not visible to the naked eye.
