Thymus-dependent antigen

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012046

An antigen that requires the assistance of helper T lymphocytes to stimulate B lymphocytes into producing antibodies. The B cell processes the antigen and presents it to a specific helper T cell, which in turn provides signals that activate the B cell to proliferate and differentiate into plasma cells. Most protein antigens are thymus-dependent, leading to the generation of memory B cells.
