Linked recognition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006649
The cellular interaction mechanism required for the activation of a B lymphocyte by a thymus-dependent antigen. It involves a helper T lymphocyte recognizing a processed peptide from the antigen presented by the B cell, while the B cell's surface immunoglobulin recognizes a separate epitope on the intact antigen. This dual recognition provides the B cell with the necessary signals to proliferate and differentiate into an antibody-producing plasma cell.
