Immunotoxic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005713
Describing a substance that has an adverse effect on the structure or function of the immune system. The effect can be a suppression of immune function, leading to increased susceptibility to infection, or an inappropriate enhancement, such as hypersensitivity or autoimmunity. A substance is classified as immunotoxic based on evidence from assays that measure changes in immune cell populations, antibody production, or cell-mediated immunity.
