JAM test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006279
A cytotoxicity assay in which target cells are labeled with tritiated thymidine incorporated into their DNA and then mixed with effector cells such as cytotoxic T lymphocytes or natural killer cells. Killing by apoptosis fragments the target DNA, and the fragments are lost when cells are harvested onto filters, so a drop in retained radioactivity measures killing. Matzinger introduced it in 1991 as an alternative to chromium release.
