Chromium release assay
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002049
A quantitative method for assessing cell-mediated cytotoxicity, where target cells are pre-loaded with radioactive chromium-51. Upon lysis by cytotoxic immune cells, the intracellular chromium-51 is released into the extracellular medium. The amount of radioactivity detected in the supernatant directly correlates with the extent of cell death.
