Macrophage function test

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006885

An in vitro or in vivo procedure designed to assess the functional capabilities of macrophages. These tests measure key activities such as phagocytosis, cytokine secretion, antigen presentation to lymphocytes, and microbicidal or tumoricidal action. The results provide insight into the cellular immune response and indicate immunotoxicity or immunostimulation caused by exposure to chemical agents, with examples including the chromate uptake assay and the chromium release assay.
