Phototoxicity test

An in vitro or in vivo assay designed to assess the potential of a chemical to cause phototoxic reactions. These tests expose cells or organisms to a substance and then to light, observing for signs of cellular damage or adverse effects. The 3T3 Neutral Red Uptake Phototoxicity Test is a commonly used in vitro method.
