Draize test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003431
A controversial acute toxicity test developed in 1944 to assess the irritancy of substances on the skin or eyes of animals, typically rabbits. In the ocular Draize test, a substance is applied to one eye, and the effects are observed over several days. Due to ethical concerns, alternative in vitro methods are increasingly being developed and adopted.
